How Much Does the iPhone 18 Pro Cost in the US?

According to Apple, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 and the iPhone 18 Pro Max at $1,299, both with 256GB of storage. MacRumors reports that this is $100 more than the equivalent iPhone 17 Pro models, and that the 2TB tier is new this year.

Apple lists several ways to spread the cost in the US:

  • Apple Card Monthly Installments: $49.95 per month for the Pro and $54.12 per month for the Pro Max over 24 months, with AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon selected at checkout.
  • Apple Upgrade: a leasing program provided by Klarna, with 24-month terms from $34.99 per month for the iPhone 18 Pro.
  • Apple Trade In: $175 to $885 in credit for an iPhone 13 or later, depending on model and condition.

What Is New in the iPhone 18 Pro?

A variable aperture camera, with an API for developers

The headline feature is a 48MP Fusion Main camera with six laser-cut blades that change the aperture, which Apple says is a first for iPhone. It can open to f/1.48 for low light or close down to f/4 to keep more of a group photo in focus. New Pro controls in the Camera app add manual shutter speed, white balance and a histogram.

For businesses that build apps, the important line is that Apple offers an API for third-party apps to control the aperture range. Apple's own Final Cut Camera 2.4 added variable aperture support on September 29 as a free update. Apple also says a Delaware company, Qnity Electronics, makes films used in the new aperture system as part of its American Manufacturing Program.

Apple Reference Image: proof that a photo is real

A new opt-in Reference mode captures signed sensor data, which Private Cloud Compute develops into what Apple calls an unalterable reference image. You can compare it with the edited photo in the Photos app to see whether anything changed. Apple says APIs are available in iOS, iPadOS and macOS 27 so third-party apps can show these reference images, and that support for Google's SynthID standard arrives in a software update later this year to help flag AI-edited images.

A20 Pro, a bigger vapor chamber and more battery life

Apple says the A20 Pro has a 6-core CPU, a 7-core GPU that is up to 40% faster than the A19 Pro, 50% more memory bandwidth and a dual 16-core Neural Engine with double the AI processing power. A redesigned vapor chamber with three times the surface area of the iPhone 17 Pro's is claimed to deliver up to 40% more sustained performance.

Battery claims are just as large. eSIM-only models reach up to 36 hours of video playback on the Pro and 45 hours on the Pro Max. The Pro can charge to 50% in about 15 minutes with a 60W-capable adapter, and Apple says the Pro Max gets around seven hours of video from five minutes of wired charging.

A smaller Dynamic Island with three Live Activities

The Dynamic Island is now smaller and can show three Live Activities at once, such as a delivery, a ride and a game score. It still handles Face ID for unlocking, signing in to apps and authenticating purchases.

C2 modem, mmWave and eSIM for US carriers

The iPhone 18 Pro introduces Apple's C2 modem. Apple says it delivers meaningfully faster uploads than the C1X while using 15% less energy, and it now supports mmWave in the US. US models are eSIM only, which works with AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and other carriers. A new iOS 27 feature called iPhone Handoff lets you switch between two iPhones on one phone number, and at launch it works with T-Mobile in the US.

What Do iOS 27 and Siri AI Add?

The iPhone 18 Pro ships with iOS 27, released on September 14. Its biggest change is Siri AI, a rebuilt assistant that Apple says understands personal context across messages, email and photos, can act on what is on your screen and answers questions using information from across the web. It launched as an English beta, and Apple added French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish with the 27.2 updates on October 26. Safari also gained Notify Me, which alerts users to price drops and restocks on pages they choose.

These software changes affect far more of your customers than the new hardware does, because Siri AI also runs on the iPhone 15 Pro, the iPhone 16 family and later. I cover them in detail in what iOS 27 Siri AI means for your website and Safari traffic.

What the iPhone 18 Pro Means for Your Website and Business

A new iPhone does not change how the web works overnight. It does raise expectations, especially among customers who just paid $1,199 or more for a phone and use it to shop, book and pay. Here is what I would check on any US business website or online store this quarter.

  1. Test checkout on iOS 27 Safari, start to finish. Face ID handles purchases and sign-ins on the new phones, so Apple Pay, passkeys and autofill should work without friction. Run a real order on a current iPhone and look for layout shifts, hidden buttons and fields that fight the keyboard. If you still rely on passwords, my guide to passkeys for websites explains the switch.
  2. Make your upload forms ready for bigger files. Faster uploads on the C2 modem and better cameras mean customers will send larger photos and videos for reviews, quotes, warranty claims and support tickets. Check file size limits, accepted formats and what happens on a slow connection.
  3. Decide if you need Live Activities. Order tracking, deliveries, bookings and wait times can sit in the Dynamic Island, but Live Activities are a native app feature that a website cannot provide. With room for three at once, this is a good moment to weigh a lightweight iOS app. I explain how one codebase can cover iPhone, Android and desktop in this cross-platform app case study.
  4. Keep prices and stock easy for machines to read. Siri AI can act on what is on screen, and Safari Notify Me watches pages for price and stock changes. Clear on-page prices, availability text and Product structured data help both. My guide to making your website agent-ready covers the markup.
  5. Think about photo authenticity. If your platform collects customer photos for reviews, listings, insurance or inspections, Apple Reference Image and SynthID support will make authenticity a selling point. Check whether your image pipeline strips metadata that could help prove a photo is unedited.
  6. Do not let fast phones hide a slow site. The A20 Pro will make heavy pages feel fine to whoever bought one. Not every visitor has a new flagship or a strong signal, so keep testing Core Web Vitals on mid-range devices too.

Should your business buy iPhone 18 Pro phones for staff?

For most teams the answer depends on the job. Field staff who upload photos and video all day benefit from the battery life, the faster uploads and mmWave coverage in US cities. Content creators get real gains from variable aperture and the new video tools. Office staff who mainly use email and chat will see less difference from an iPhone 16 or 17, especially since those models already run Siri AI.

Frequently asked questions

When did the iPhone 18 Pro come out?

Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9, 2026. Pre-orders opened on Saturday, September 12, and the phones went on sale in the US and more than 65 other countries and regions on Friday, September 18, 2026. Twenty more countries and regions followed on September 25, according to Apple's press release.

How much is the iPhone 18 Pro in the US?

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 and the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299, both with 256GB of storage. Apple also offers 512GB, 1TB and 2TB versions at higher prices. MacRumors reports the starting prices are $100 higher than the equivalent iPhone 17 Pro models from 2025.

Does the iPhone 18 Pro have a SIM card slot in the US?

No. US models of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are eSIM only. Apple says the space saved by removing the SIM tray goes to a larger battery that adds about two hours of video playback. Apple says eSIM is supported by over 500 carriers worldwide, including AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon.

Do I need an iPhone 18 Pro to use Siri AI?

No. Siri AI and Apple Intelligence in iOS 27 also run on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, the iPhone 16 family and later, and iPhone Air, according to Apple. Siri AI is still labeled a beta, and some server-based features have daily usage limits that Apple says can be expanded for a fee in the future.

Does the iPhone 18 Pro change how my website looks?

Not by itself. Your site renders in Safari on iOS 27 the same way on any recent iPhone. What changes is behavior: Siri AI can read and act on your pages, Safari can watch them for price changes, and customers expect faster, cleaner mobile checkout. Testing on a current iPhone is the best way to catch problems.

The Bottom Line on the iPhone 18 Pro

The iPhone 18 Pro is a meaningful upgrade in camera, battery and connectivity, and its $100 price rise puts it firmly in premium territory. For businesses, the bigger story is what Apple's new phones and software expect from your website: fast mobile checkout, clear product data that assistants can read, and an app strategy for features like Live Activities.
