The Challenge
Urban Nights is a cryptid-themed brand whose products draw on Mothman, Bigfoot, ghosts and aliens. The Urban Nights Figma storefront design needed to capture that bold, supernatural identity while keeping the shopping experience clear, structured and visually engaging.
The product range is broad and varied, including ornaments, Halloween decor, posters and layered artwork. Presenting that range in an immersive, memorable way risked creating a cluttered interface, especially with bold themed visuals competing for attention on every page.
The challenge was to make the store feel like stepping into the Urban Nights world without making it hard to browse. Shoppers needed to find collections quickly, understand products at a glance and move toward checkout easily, while the brand's personality stayed front and center. Getting that balance right would decide whether visitors remembered Urban Nights as a brand or just as a busy page.
The Solution
I designed the storefront in Figma with a strong focus on themed visual direction, category clarity and engaging product presentation. The brand's cryptid identity drives the look and feel, while a clean structure keeps the store easy to use.
The layout is built around collections inspired by Mothman, Bigfoot, Ghosts and Aliens, giving shoppers an intuitive, memorable way to browse. Product types such as ornaments, Halloween decor, posters and layered artwork are presented clearly within that structure, so the range never feels like a jumble. Reusable patterns for product cards, buttons and section headers keep the bold visuals consistent from page to page, and mobile layouts follow the same rules.
Navigation stays smooth and product discovery stays easy across the site. The final design delivers a polished ecommerce concept with a bold supernatural aesthetic, better collection flow and a stronger visual identity tailored to the brand, reflected in the 98% theme impact, 96% collection flow and 97% brand recall results.
Brief and audience for a cryptid-themed brand
The Urban Nights Figma storefront design was made for fans of the strange and supernatural: people drawn to cryptid lore, Halloween and bold, unusual artwork. The store needed to feel like it belonged to that community, with a personality strong enough to be remembered after a single visit.
Those same shoppers still need a store that works. The brief combined two goals:
- Build an immersive, memorable supernatural brand experience
- Keep browsing, product discovery and checkout clear and uncluttered
Balancing these goals shaped every decision, from how collections are introduced to how much visual detail appears around product listings. It also meant designing the theme so new creatures or collections could be added later without redesigning the store.
Collections for Mothman, Bigfoot, Ghosts and Aliens
The most distinctive part of the information architecture is the collection structure. I designed the store around themed collections inspired by Mothman, Bigfoot, Ghosts and Aliens, so shoppers can dive straight into the creatures they love.
Collection flow
Each collection has a strong visual entry point that sets the mood, followed by a clean product grid that makes browsing easy. Consistent layouts across collections mean shoppers can move from Mothman to Aliens without relearning the interface.
Product types such as ornaments, Halloween decor, posters and layered artwork are presented clearly within this structure. The approach supports the 96% collection flow result and makes the catalogue feel like a set of stories rather than a list of items.
A bold supernatural visual identity without clutter
The visual system gives Urban Nights its personality. Bold, themed visuals bring the supernatural aesthetic to life, giving the store the theme impact and brand recall that set it apart from generic shops.
To avoid clutter, I concentrated the strongest visuals in brand moments such as collection entry points, while keeping product areas clean and focused. Clear typography and consistent spacing hold the design together, so the store feels intentional even with a lot of personality on show. Products like ornaments and posters benefit from clean presentation, since shoppers want to see exactly what they are buying.
The design was planned to stay clear on smaller screens too, so the supernatural atmosphere and easy browsing carry through to mobile shoppers. That consistency across devices helps the 94% product appeal result hold wherever people shop.
Themed storefront design for niche brands
Urban Nights shows how a niche brand can turn its theme into a storefront people remember. Collections give the catalogue structure, the visual system gives it personality and clear navigation keeps the shopping experience easy. A themed design like this also gives a brand a strong base for future marketing, since every collection already has its own visual identity.
Themed designs also benefit from modern frontend techniques when they are built. Effects like smooth page transitions and scroll-driven animations can add atmosphere without hurting performance, which I cover in my article on modern CSS in 2026.
