The Challenge

Workwear buyers range from a tradie grabbing one jacket to a company outfitting a whole crew. The Proskill Workwear WooCommerce store had to serve both, selling durable safety wear across Australia while telling the Proskill and MASCOT brand stories in a way that explains why the gear is worth paying for.

Proskill's argument is that longer-lasting workwear saves money and reduces waste, and that social and environmental responsibility is part of the product, not a marketing add-on. That message needed evidence and interactivity to feel genuine, particularly for businesses comparing unit prices across suppliers.

At the same time, the catalogue is wide, from pants, jackets and vests to polos, overalls, bib and braces and a dedicated women's workwear range, and buyers needed sizing, delivery and returns information before they would commit.

The Solution

I built the store on WordPress and WooCommerce with a shop-plus-storytelling structure. The homepage leads with proof: a short customer video from a plumbing business, then an interactive Impact Estimator where buyers enter employee numbers, pants per employee and unit prices to see indicative savings in dollars, CO2, water and garments kept out of landfill, with an option to receive the results as a PDF report.

Below that, a Shop Our Range section links to the main categories, followed by Proskill's mission, how the brand is different, and a dedicated section on workwear designed specifically for women, with two fits plus a unisex option. Customer stories, social links and a full set of customer service pages, Delivery, Returns and Exchanges, Measurement Chart, Retailers and Smartstore Distributor, support the purchase.

As developer and site manager I maintain it end to end: updated, secured, backed up and monitored 24/7, with zero security incidents.

Shop-plus-storytelling structure for the Proskill Workwear WooCommerce store

The Proskill Workwear WooCommerce store has two jobs: sell workwear and explain why it is worth buying. Rather than separating these into a shop and a distant About page, the homepage weaves them together. Brand story and evidence come first, then a Shop Our Range section with large links to Pants, Jackets, Vests and Workwear for Women, then the mission and points of difference, then customer stories.

That order suits Proskill's buyers. A tradie who already knows the gear can click straight to a category, while a business owner comparing suppliers reads the case for longer-lasting workwear before reaching the products. A Shop Now button stays at the top of the page for anyone ready to buy, and the full category list sits in the footer for quick access from any page.

An interactive Impact Estimator for workwear buyers

Proskill's claim that its workwear lasts longer needs numbers to land, so the site includes an Impact Estimator. Buyers enter the number of employees, pants per employee, the Proskill unit price and another brand's unit price, and the calculator shows indicative savings in dollars, kilograms of CO2, litres of water and pants kept out of landfill.

The estimator is transparent about its basis. It references a Monash University student study estimating that Proskill-MASCOT workwear lasts several times longer than other workwear, notes that the findings have not been independently verified, and leaves the longevity multiplier adjustable so buyers can test their own assumptions. Results can be emailed as a PDF report to share with a team. That honesty is what keeps the social responsibility angle feeling genuine rather than bolted on.

Workwear categories and a dedicated women's range

The catalogue covers the full working wardrobe: pants, jackets, vests, jumpers, t-shirts, polo shirts, shorts, bib and braces, overalls and accessories, each as its own WooCommerce category. A View All Categories link leads to the main shop, so buyers outfitting a crew can move between garment types quickly.

Women's workwear gets particular attention, because it is a genuine point of difference. The site explains that Proskill offers one of the most extensive women's workwear model and size ranges in the country, with two different fits plus a unisex option, because fit and comfort matter on long shifts. Giving this its own homepage section and category speaks directly to an audience that is often underserved by workwear brands.

Customer service pages that support bulk and trade orders

Workwear purchases, especially for teams, come with practical questions, so the footer links to a full set of customer service pages: Delivery, Returns and Exchanges, a Measurement Chart for sizing, Retailers for people who want to try gear in person, and a Smartstore Distributor page for organisations managing workwear at scale. A Contact page and a 1300 number cover everything else.

Answering these questions on the site reduces friction for both single buyers and businesses. A tradie can check the measurement chart before ordering, and a company buyer can understand delivery and returns before committing to a larger order. If you are deciding which platform suits a store like this, my comparison of Shopify vs WordPress WooCommerce covers the trade-offs.

Safety-first maintenance for Proskill Workwear

An online store needs the same safety-first approach as the gear it sells. As developer and site manager I maintain the Proskill store end to end: WordPress, WooCommerce and plugin updates tested before release, regular backups, security hardening and 24/7 uptime monitoring. The store holds a 99.9% uptime record, zero security incidents and every page loading clean.

After updates, I check the cart, checkout, category pages and the Impact Estimator, since each is part of how customers decide and buy. My article on WordPress security in 2026 explains how I keep plugin risk under control.
