The Challenge
A workshop in Sydney's airport precinct lives on commuters, local businesses and fleet cars that cannot be off the road for long. The Mascot Mechanical WordPress website had to make servicing and tyre work instantly clear for Mascot Mechanical and Tyres, and keep the phone number a tap away for drivers who need a booking today.
The workshop offers a long list of services, from logbook servicing, eSafety checks and pre-purchase inspections to brakes, cooling systems, exhausts, clutches and transmissions, diagnostics and auto electrical, towing and tyres. Each needed a clear place without turning the homepage into a wall of text.
Mascot Mechanical is also part of the same crew as Fernside Automotive. The site had to share that brand DNA, the same standards and structure, while keeping its own Mascot identity so customers never confuse the two workshops.
The Solution
I built the site on WordPress with Breakdance, mirroring the group's proven structure while giving Mascot its own identity. The layout is call-first: the phone number and a Book Online button sit in the header on every page, and the homepage headline, Experienced Mechanics and Tyre Experts Servicing Mascot and South Sydney, makes the location and specialty clear immediately.
A Who We Are section introduces the team's more than 59 years of combined experience across just about every make and model, and a Workshop Services grid summarises key services, each linking to its own page. The Services menu lists every offering, from eSafety checks to towing and tyres. A short FAQ answers opening hours and how to book, Google reviews highlight long-term customers, and Gallery and Contact pages complete the site, with local SEO for Mascot and South Sydney throughout.
I maintain both sister sites in the same rhythm: patched, secure and always answering, with a 99.9% uptime record.
A call-first layout for a Mascot mechanic and tyre shop
The Mascot Mechanical WordPress website is built around one action: calling or booking. The phone number appears in the header alongside a Book Online button, and both repeat throughout the homepage, so a driver with a warning light on the dashboard can act within seconds of landing. On mobile, these controls stay easy to reach with a thumb.
The rest of the homepage supports that action without distracting from it. The headline states what the workshop does and where, the Who We Are section explains the team's experience and reasonable prices, and each section ends with a route to booking. For commuters and fleet managers, whose time is the scarcest resource, removing every unnecessary step between search and booking is the most valuable thing a workshop site can do.
Service pages from eSafety checks to tyres and towing
Mascot Mechanical and Tyres offers a wide range of work, and the Services menu gives each its own page: eSafety Checks, Logbook Servicing, Air Conditioning, Steering and Suspension, Exhaust Repairs and Replacement, Clutches and Transmissions, Diagnostics and Auto Electrical, Cooling System, Brakes, Inspections, Windows, Towing, Tyres and Other Vehicle Services.
On the homepage, the Workshop Services grid summarises the most requested services in a sentence or two each, from logbook servicing that protects a new-car warranty to pre-purchase inspections before buying a second-hand vehicle. Dedicated pages give each service a chance to rank for searches such as eSafety check Mascot or tyres Mascot, which matters for a workshop whose name already leads with both mechanical work and tyres.
Shared brand DNA with Fernside Automotive
Mascot Mechanical and Tyres is part of the same crew as Fernside Automotive, and the two sites share a proven structure: a call-first header, a services grid, dedicated service pages, an FAQ and Google reviews. Reusing what works keeps quality consistent across the group and makes both sites easier to maintain.
Each site still keeps its own identity. Mascot has its own name, contact details, King Street address, service area of Mascot and South Sydney, and its own reviews, so customers always know which workshop they are dealing with and search engines treat each as a separate local business. Reviews from long-term customers who have trusted the team with their cars for years reinforce Mascot's own reputation. You can compare the sister build in my Fernside Automotive case study.
Lightweight pages and local SEO for Mascot and South Sydney
Most visitors are on a phone, often between meetings or on the way to the airport, so the site is built to stay light. Images are compressed and sized for their containers, layouts are simple, and the most important content loads first.
The FAQ answers the two questions that cause most calls, opening hours and how to book, with weekday and Saturday morning hours listed plainly. The headline targets Mascot and South Sydney directly, and the King Street address and phone number appear consistently to support the Google Business Profile. My local SEO playbook for mechanics explains how service pages, consistent contact details and reviews work together to help a workshop like this appear in local results.
Maintaining both sister workshop sites in the same rhythm
I maintain the Mascot Mechanical site alongside Fernside Automotive on the same schedule: WordPress core, Breakdance and plugin updates, backups, security hardening and 24/7 uptime monitoring. Maintaining sister sites together keeps them consistent and means an improvement on one can be rolled out to the other. The site holds a 99.9% uptime record, zero security incidents and every page loading clean.
After updates, I check that the phone links, Book Online page and service pages work on mobile, because for a call-first workshop those are the parts that matter most.
