The Challenge

A design-and-construct firm selling bespoke work needs a website that looks bespoke itself. The Lignum DC WordPress website had to present Lignum Design & Construction with premium visual polish, carrying its brand line, transforming spaces, elevating experiences.

Lignum's work spans design, construction and maintenance, from preparing properties for sale or lease to work on residential complexes and fixing specific problems. Each service line serves a different client, and the site needed to make those paths clear.

Its clients are also more varied than a typical builder's. Property managers, owners corporations, sales agents and independent homeowners all send work its way, and commercial clients judge reliability as much as craftsmanship. The site needed the polish to win that work and the reliability to never go dark mid-tender.

The Solution

I built the site on WordPress with Breakdance, giving project imagery room to breathe and keeping the interface clean and architectural. The hero carries the brand line with a single Get in Touch action, followed by three clear service tiles: Prep for Sale, Residential Complexes and Problem-Specific Solutions.

Counters for completed projects, team and satisfied customers add quick credibility, and a portfolio section showcases projects in St Kilda, Port Melbourne and Albert Park. The Lignum Process section explains how the team works with property managers, owners corporations and sales agents, including exactly how to submit work orders.

An About page introduces the management team by name and role, and testimonials describe projects managed end to end. The site runs under my ongoing care, patched, backed up and monitored, with a spotless security history.

Lignum Design & Construction and the Melbourne property professionals it serves

Lignum Design & Construction has operated since 2015, delivering design, construction and maintenance services across Melbourne, from minor maintenance tasks to pre-sale preparations and full-scale renovations.

Its client base is distinctive. Property managers and owners corporations need a dependable maintenance partner who handles tenant access and reporting properly. Sales agents need properties prepared quickly before a campaign. Independent homeowners want renovations like bathrooms and laundries managed end to end, with all trades coordinated.

The website needed to work for all of these clients without feeling generic. That meant clear service paths, visible process documentation and a premium presentation that reassures commercial clients they are dealing with an organised, professional firm. The management team is introduced by name, so clients know who they will be working with.

Service pages for prep for sale, residential complexes and problem-specific work

The Lignum DC WordPress website structures its offer around three clear service lines, each with its own page and homepage tile:

  • Prep for Sale, helping owners and agents boost a property's value before sale or lease
  • Residential Complexes, supporting owners corporations and property managers with ongoing work
  • Problem-Specific Solutions, for targeted repairs and maintenance issues

A dedicated homepage banner promotes Prep for Sale with a clear Learn More action, because it is a strong entry point for agents and vendors. Keeping the service list short and well defined makes the site easy to scan and gives search engines focused pages for each type of work, rather than a single page trying to cover everything Lignum does.

Project portfolio across St Kilda, Port Melbourne and Albert Park

Premium work deserves premium presentation. A Past and Current Projects section on the homepage features projects in St Kilda, Port Melbourne and Albert Park, each linking to its own project page with images and detail.

Naming projects by street and suburb helps local clients recognise the work and gives search engines useful location signals for bayside Melbourne. The layout gives each project image plenty of space and keeps text minimal, letting the craftsmanship speak.

Counters for completed projects, fully qualified team and satisfied customers sit alongside the portfolio, and testimonials describe renovations where Lignum project managed every trade. This combination of visual proof and social proof is what commercial clients and homeowners alike look for before shortlisting a builder.

Documenting the work order process for agents and owners corporations

For maintenance clients, how to engage a contractor matters as much as what they do. The Lignum Process section explains the full workflow:

  • Consultation and understanding the client's vision, budget and timeline
  • Engaging Lignum's services, including emailing work orders with tenant access details and photos
  • A confirmation email with a job reference once a request is logged
  • Bookings coordinated with renters, agents or owners
  • A dedicated project manager and scope table for larger jobs
  • Continued support and re-attendance after completion

Spelling this out on the website saves property managers time, reduces incomplete requests and positions Lignum as an organised partner. It is the kind of clear, factual content that also helps the business appear in AI search answers, a topic I cover in staying visible in Google AI Mode.

Ongoing care that never goes dark mid-tender

Commercial clients often check a contractor's website during a tender or before awarding work, so it has to be online and polished every time. I keep the Breakdance build lean, with optimised imagery, and handle ongoing maintenance: updates, backups, uptime monitoring and security hardening.

The site holds a 99.9% uptime record, zero security incidents, 24/7 site monitoring and 100% of pages loading clean. I took a similar premium approach for Luxe Landscapes, which shares Lignum's focus on bespoke outdoor and building work.

If you run a construction, maintenance or design business and want a website that wins commercial clients and never lets you down, get in touch.
