The Challenge

JLH Automotive in Launceston offers a rare all-under-one-roof spread: full mechanical servicing, auto electrical, instrument service and air conditioning. That breadth is a real advantage for local drivers, but it also made the JLH Automotive WordPress website harder to plan, because each specialty attracts a very different search.

Someone with a dashboard warning light searches differently from someone booking a logbook service or chasing a failed air conditioner before summer. The site had to give each specialty visibility without burying the everyday servicing that pays the bills.

All of it had to be targeted squarely at Launceston and surrounding areas, where locals compare a handful of workshops before they call, usually on a phone and often in a hurry.

The Solution

I built the site on WordPress with Breakdance around a four-pillar structure. The hero headline, "Trusted Automotive Repairs & Servicing in Launceston", sits above the four pillars, Auto Electrical, Full Mechanical Service, Instrument Service and Air Conditioning, with View Our Services and Book Your Service Today buttons and the workshop phone number right there.

Beneath the pillars, the services menu breaks the work into eight dedicated pages: logbook servicing, brakes, tyres and wheels, steering and suspension, fuel injection service, clutch and transmission, auto electrical, and air conditioning. A Servicing All Makes and Models section reassures owners of family cars, 4WDs and commercial vehicles, and an auto electrical section explains why modern vehicle electronics need a professional.

Google reviews from local customers add proof, and a Schedule Your Appointment Today prompt repeats down the page. I maintain the site across the board: mechanical, electrical, everything checked.

Four service pillars for a Launceston workshop

The JLH Automotive WordPress website is organised around the way the workshop actually operates. Four pillars, auto electrical, full mechanical service, instrument service and air conditioning, appear in the hero so a visitor knows within seconds whether JLH can help.

The About section explains the business in plain terms: reliable servicing, mechanical repairs, diagnostics, auto electrical solutions and general maintenance for a wide range of vehicles across Launceston and surrounding areas, backed by years of experience. The tone stays practical and honest, matching the expectations of Tasmanian drivers who value straight answers over sales talk.

Dedicated pages for auto electrical and air conditioning in Launceston

Specialist work needs specialist pages. Auto electrical and air conditioning each have their own page, so a driver searching for those services in Launceston lands on content written specifically for their problem rather than a general service list.

The homepage auto electrical section makes the case clearly: today's cars are more high-tech than ever, with automated and electronic systems keeping them running, so electrical concerns belong with a professional. It describes installation, repair, maintenance and replacement across many makes and models. Fuel injection service and clutch and transmission pages sit alongside, covering the more technical mechanical work that sets JLH apart from a basic service centre.

Everyday servicing that keeps the workshop busy

Specialties win attention, but everyday servicing pays the bills, so it could not be buried. Logbook servicing, brakes, tyres and wheels, and steering and suspension each have their own page and appear first in the services menu.

The Servicing All Makes and Models section supports this with a reassuring message for every type of driver: family cars, 4WDs and commercial vehicles are all welcome, the team keeps up with modern vehicle technology, and every job comes with honest advice. A Schedule Your Appointment Today prompt appears at multiple points down the page, so routine customers can book as easily as those with complex problems.

Lightweight performance for mobile searches around Launceston

Most people searching for a mechanic in Launceston are on a phone, often with a problem they want sorted today. I kept the build lightweight, with optimised images and clean layouts that load quickly on regional mobile connections.

The phone number appears in the hero and throughout the page, and Book Your Service Today is one tap away. Responsive layouts keep service cards readable on small screens. These small details reduce the friction between a search and a phone call. My guide to Interaction to Next Paint explains why responsiveness on mobile matters for both users and rankings.

Maintaining the JLH Automotive site alongside its sister brand

I also built and maintain the website for JLH Auto Electrical, the specialist electrical arm of the JLH workshops, so I look after both sites together. Updates, security, backups and 24/7 monitoring run in tandem, keeping the JLH family consistent online. The site holds a 99.9% uptime record with zero security incidents, and every page loads clean.

Coordinating the two sites also means shared details, such as contact information and opening hours, are updated once and checked on both, so customers never see conflicting information.
