The Challenge

JDI Construction is a family-owned remodeling company founded in 2007 by Alex Kulchitskiy and headquartered in downtown Vancouver, Washington, with a Portland meeting office by appointment. Its designers, project consultants and project managers plan and build kitchen and bathroom remodels, whole-home renovations, additions, ADUs and exterior projects across Clark County and the Portland metro.

A remodel is one of the larger purchases a household makes, and JDI's clients compare contractors carefully. They want a sense of the price before they talk to anyone, real finished work to look at, the names of the people who will run the job and licenses they can check in two states. Homes in the region add their own concerns, from older framing and wet winters to permits in Vancouver, Portland, Clark County and Multnomah County.

The website had to answer those questions in depth while keeping the path to a free estimate short. It also had to cover a large service area across Washington and Oregon, so a homeowner in Camas, Lake Oswego or Battle Ground would find a page written for their city and their type of project.

The Solution

I built the site on WordPress with a custom theme rather than a page builder, which keeps the markup lean and gives full control over components such as the mega menu, the estimate modal and the before and after sliders. The header carries the current seasonal offer, and the homepage moves from the design-build promise to services, real project comparisons, video testimonials and the three-step process.

Several tools let homeowners qualify themselves before they call. Kitchen, bathroom and whole-home cost calculators return a planning range in about 90 seconds without asking for contact details first. A design visualizer lets visitors upload a photo of their own kitchen or bathroom, pick a style and get a concept that keeps their walls, windows and layout. A filterable team section introduces the 12 people behind each remodel, and a financing page sets out two lending partners side by side.

The estimate form asks for the project type, posts to a custom endpoint and includes separate consent options for text messages. Rank Math handles titles and sitemaps across 54 project pages, more than 200 kitchen and bathroom guide articles and 210 city and service pages.

JDI Construction: design-build remodeling in Vancouver, WA and Portland

JDI stands for Just Dream It, and the company has grown from a one-truck operation in Portland into a full-service design-build firm with more than 500 completed projects. The site tells that story through people. The homepage team section introduces the founder, the president, the office manager, the head project manager, designers, project consultants and on-site staff, each with a short bio and focus areas, so a homeowner knows who will be in the house.

The About page goes further with a company facts panel: the legal name, the year of founding, the Washington and Oregon licenses with verification links, the contractor surety bond, insurance and the 5-year written workmanship warranty. For a buyer comparing remodelers, being able to check everything in one place answers questions before they turn into objections.

Kitchen, bathroom, whole-home, addition and ADU remodeling in Vancouver, WA

The services are organized the way homeowners think about a remodel. A mega menu groups kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, whole-house remodeling, home and room additions, ADUs, exterior remodeling and the design-build process, and Portland has its own set of service pages.

Each service connects to its own project category, so a visitor reading about kitchens can move straight to kitchen projects such as modern kitchen remodels in Portland and Vancouver. Project pages show the full before and after story, and the drag-to-compare sliders on the homepage give a quick preview. Beyond the core services, JDI publishes two deep reference libraries, a kitchen remodeling guide and a bathroom remodeling guide, covering topics from permits and costs to aging-in-place bathrooms and how to choose a remodeler.

Cost calculators, reviews and financing on the JDI Construction website

JDI's conversion path gives homeowners information first and asks for commitment second:

  • Cost calculators for kitchens, bathrooms and whole homes, each a 90-second quiz
  • Reviews from Google, HomeAdvisor, Houzz and GuildQuality, each card linking to its source
  • Video testimonials from homeowners in Vancouver, Camas, Portland and Tigard
  • A financing page comparing Lend Home Improvements and Medallion Bank
  • Seasonal offers and a referral bonus on their own pages

The review block shows 4.9 stars from 223+ Google reviews and 409+ reviews across four platforms, with the month the counts were taken. When a visitor is ready, the estimate form opens in a modal from any page, with the phone line, office hours and both state licenses beside it.

Local SEO for remodeling in Clark County and the Portland metro

JDI works across 30 cities, 13 in Southwest Washington and 17 in Oregon, and each city has seven service pages: kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, shower remodeling, whole-house remodeling, home additions, ADU builder and general contractor. That adds up to 210 local pages, from Vancouver, Camas, Ridgefield and Battle Ground to Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Hillsboro and Salem.

The pages are written for the place. The Camas kitchen page contrasts compact kitchens in older homes near the historic downtown with builder-grade kitchens in newer homes around Prune Hill and Lacamas Lake, then gives JDI's published cost ranges by kitchen size and typical construction timelines. Rank Math manages titles, meta data and the XML sitemaps, and a cities hub links every location so visitors and search engines can reach them easily.

Speed, accessibility and content growth on the JDI Construction website

A custom theme makes it easier to keep the front end light. Fonts load without blocking the page, images are served in WebP at sensible sizes, and the scripts for the mega menu, estimate modal and comparison sliders are small, single-purpose files. Cloudflare sits in front of the site, and Google Tag Manager keeps analytics and tracking in one place.

Accessibility gets the same attention, with a skip link to the main content, a dedicated accessibility stylesheet and an accessibility statement page. New content keeps arriving through WordPress: project write-ups, blog posts, guide articles and team bios each have their own content type and sitemap, so JDI's team can publish without touching the templates.
