The Challenge
KT Premier Properties needed more than a standard business website. Its KT Rents WordPress rental platform had to support real property management operations, simplify rental workflows and give both landlords and tenants a smoother experience online.
That meant combining two very different requirements. On the frontend, the platform needed to be easy to use for people browsing rentals and exploring properties. Behind it, the business needed custom functionality: rental management tools, a calculator, location data through the Places in USA API and a custom dashboard to keep operations organized.
The platform also had to stay flexible. KT Rents supports listings across different markets in the USA and a wide range of property types, so the system could not be built around a single city or rental model. It needed to scale with the business without becoming harder to manage as more properties were added.
The Solution
I developed the platform in WordPress using Elementor for the frontend and custom development for everything a standard theme cannot do. Elementor gave the business flexible, editable page layouts, while custom code handled the rental logic, data and tools behind them.
REST API integrations support dynamic data handling, so property information can be loaded and updated without rebuilding pages by hand. A custom calculator built into the platform lets users work out figures without leaving the site, and the Places in USA API integration adds location-based functionality that makes presenting properties across different markets more useful.
To streamline internal workflows, I built a custom dashboard for managing rentals more efficiently. Together, these features turned a WordPress site into a capable rental platform with clearer property management flow and a stronger foundation for long-term growth, reflected in the rental control, dashboard ease and API depth results for the project.
Rental workflows for landlords, tenants and property managers
The KT Rents WordPress rental platform serves several groups at once. Landlords want their properties presented and managed well, tenants want a simple way to explore rentals and the KT Premier Properties team needs tools that keep day-to-day operations organized.
I planned the platform around those workflows rather than around a typical website sitemap. Public-facing pages focus on clear property presentation and easy navigation, while the operational side focuses on managing rentals with as few steps as possible.
Designing for multiple users meant keeping each experience focused. A tenant should not have to wade through landlord information, and the team should not have to dig through public pages to manage a rental. That separation is a big part of what makes the platform feel smooth for everyone who uses it.
REST API integrations and the Places in USA API
Dynamic data is at the heart of the platform. I implemented REST API integrations so property information and related data can be handled dynamically, keeping the frontend in sync with the data behind it and making the system easier to extend.
Location-based functionality
The Places in USA API integration adds location awareness across the platform. Because KT Rents supports listings in different markets nationwide, accurate location data helps present properties in the right context and makes the platform more useful for tenants looking in a specific area.
Building on APIs rather than static pages gives the business room to grow. New data sources or features can connect to the same structure, which is why API-driven design matters for platforms like this. I compare the main approaches in my article on REST, GraphQL and tRPC.
Custom calculator and rental management tools
Alongside the integrations, I built custom tools that turn the site into a working platform. The custom calculator gives users a quick way to work through figures directly on the site, which improves usability across the platform and keeps people engaged rather than sending them elsewhere.
The rental management tools support the everyday tasks involved in running properties, built specifically around how KT Premier Properties operates rather than adapted from a generic plugin. Everything is designed to reduce manual work and keep the rental process clear for both landlords and tenants.
These features were developed with custom code inside WordPress, so they integrate cleanly with the content the team manages in Elementor and stay maintainable as requirements change. The same codebase can take on new tools later without a rebuild.
A custom dashboard for managing rentals at scale
The custom dashboard brings rental management into one place. Rather than managing rentals through generic WordPress admin screens, the team works from an interface designed around their workflow, which streamlines internal processes and saves time as the portfolio grows.
Scalability was a design goal from the start. The platform supports a wide range of property types across different markets, and its structure allows new listings, locations and features to be added without reworking the core system.
If you need a property, booking or listing platform that goes beyond what off-the-shelf themes can do, I build custom WordPress and Laravel solutions, such as this custom ordering system. Get in touch to talk through your workflow and what your platform needs to do.
