The Challenge

JAF Autos customers usually need one of two things right now: a roadworthy certificate for a sale, or their car air conditioning fixed before summer. The JAF Autos website had to answer both instantly, with the phone number and the workshop location on Derrimut Service Road impossible to miss on a mobile screen.

The workshop in Hoppers Crossing does more than cars. It handles roadworthy checks for motorcycles, trikes, LPG vehicles, EVs and hybrids, light buses and light trucks, and auto air conditioning for cars, vans, trucks, tractors and excavators, plus logbook servicing. That range needed to be clear without cluttering the core message.

The site also had to compete in local search across Hoppers Crossing, Werribee and the wider Wyndham area, where plenty of workshops chase the same roadworthy and air con searches.

The Solution

I kept the build deliberately lightweight, a lean HTML, CSS and JavaScript site with services, the phone number and the workshop address placed at the very top of every page. A Call to Book button and a Locate Us link to Google Maps sit in the header, and the homepage leads with the key services and credentials.

The menu splits work into Roadworthy Checks, Auto Air Conditioning, Log Book Servicing and Bookings, with dedicated pages for each vehicle type and for Wyndham and Hoppers Crossing roadworthy searches. The VicRoads licensed vehicle tester number and refrigerant trading authorisation are displayed prominently to build trust.

An FAQ answers common questions about roadworthy costs, selling a car in Victoria and air con leak testing. As developer and site manager, I maintain and monitor it continuously, and it has never gone down or been compromised.

JAF Autos has served the Hoppers Crossing community since 2009, working alongside Air Speed Auto Air Conditioning from the workshop at 400 Derrimut Service Road. The team specialises in roadworthy certificates, automotive air conditioning and general mechanical work, including logbook servicing.

Customers range from private sellers who need a roadworthy within days, to motorcyclists, to transport operators needing light bus and truck inspections. Air conditioning customers include car and van owners, plus agricultural and construction operators with tractors and excavators.

Reviews on the site highlight honest advice and a mechanic who fixes problems others missed. The website needed to turn that local reputation into a fast, frictionless booking for people who often arrive with a deadline: a car sale, a registration date or an approaching heatwave.

Phone, map and services above the fold on mobile

Most JAF customers search on a phone, so the most important information sits in the first screen of every page. The header shows a Call to Book link, the workshop address and a Locate Us link that opens Google Maps, so a driver can call or navigate with a single tap.

Directly below, the key services appear as short, bold statements: roadworthy checks for motorcycles, LPG vehicles and cars; auto air conditioning leak detection and regassing for R134a and R1234yf refrigerants; roadworthy checks for light buses, light trucks, EVs and hybrids.

The licensed vehicle tester details and refrigerant trading authorisation appear next to the services, reassuring visitors that the workshop is properly certified before they even scroll. A Find Us section near the end repeats the address and drop-off time.

The JAF Autos website gives each type of job its own page, so it can answer specific questions and rank for specific searches:

FAQ content and local SEO across Wyndham and the west

A homepage FAQ answers the questions people ask before booking: how much a roadworthy costs, with JAF's flat upfront fee explained; whether you need a roadworthy to sell a vehicle in Victoria, with a link to the state transport website; whether air conditioning is leak tested before regassing; and whether the workshop is certified to inspect buses.

These clear question-and-answer pairs are exactly what Google and AI search tools surface for local queries. Titles and headings target Hoppers Crossing, Werribee and Wyndham, and local business structured data reinforces the location.
