The Challenge
Freestone's Transport is an Australian, family-owned linehaul carrier that moves freight overnight, interstate and between airports and distribution points, with 24/7 national operations. Its customers are logistics managers and businesses shipping on deadlines, and they choose carriers on coverage, dependability and how easy it is to get a consignment quoted. The Freestone's Transport WordPress website had to answer those questions quickly.
There was also a second audience. A trucking business is only as reliable as its drivers and technicians, and recruitment is a constant need. The site had to present four freight services clearly for buyers comparing carriers, carry the weight of a family business with more than 40 years in the industry, and give prospective drivers and technicians their own route in without cluttering the customer journey.
The Solution
I built the site on WordPress with Breakdance with a dedicated page for each service line: Overnight Freight, Interstate Line Haul, Air Freight Road Feeder and Daily Freight. The homepage hero positions Freestone's as Australia's most trustworthy linehaul express carrier under the values Care, Respect, Pride and Excellence, backed by quick proof points: 24/7 tracking, modern technology, NHVR national accreditation, pressure monitoring systems and more than 40 years of experience.
A Recruitments menu holds separate Driver and Technician pages, while Gallery, Media and a detailed About page tell the company story. The phone number sits at the top of the site, and each service page carries a clear contact path for quoting, so a logistics manager is never more than a click from a conversation.
I maintain the site on a schedule with updates, security patches, backups and 24/7 monitoring, so the enquiries keep moving as reliably as the trucks.
A family-owned linehaul carrier with a story worth telling
Freestone's story is a genuine differentiator, so it earned a proper About page. It begins in 1966 with Paul Freestone working at an Ampol service station on Keilor Road, Essendon, where a chance meeting with a truck driver sparked a lifelong passion for transport. It follows him through gaining his articulated licence at 16, buying his first truck and hauling freight the hard way, through to building one of Australia's respected premium linehaul operators.
That narrative does real work for the business. Logistics managers choosing a carrier want to know they are dealing with seasoned professionals who will still be around next year, and a family business built on grit and integrity is a strong answer. The homepage introduces those family values briefly and links through for anyone who wants the full history.
Service pages for overnight, interstate, air freight road feeder and daily freight
Each freight mode has its own page, because a business booking time-critical overnight freight is asking different questions from one arranging regular daily runs:
- Overnight Freight: time-critical shipments delivered by the next business day through the linehaul network
- Interstate Line Haul: consistent transit times and secure handling across Australia
- Air Freight Road Feeder: moving freight between airports and key distribution points without delays
- Daily Freight: dependable scheduled transport for regular business operations
The homepage summarises all four in a Services section with short, outcome-focused descriptions, and each page carries its own contact path so a logistics manager can request a quote without backtracking. Separate pages also give each service its own presence in search, so a query about interstate linehaul or air freight road feeder services lands on the right answer.
Recruitment pages for drivers and technicians
Hiring good drivers and technicians is an ongoing challenge in transport, and a carrier's website is often the first place a candidate looks. I set up a Recruitments menu with separate Driver and Technician pages, so prospective staff can find role information without wading through customer content, and customers never have to see recruitment messaging they do not need.
The Gallery and Media pages support both audiences. Customers see the fleet and the operation behind the service, and candidates see the trucks they would be driving. Google testimonials on the homepage add an outside view, including comments from a motorist who noticed a Freestone's unit and its driver handling heavy traffic well. For a business that sells reliability and professionalism, that kind of unprompted praise is hard to beat.
Trust signals, partners and a fast, responsive build
Freight buyers scan for credentials, so the homepage puts them right under the headline: 24/7 tracking, modern technology, NHVR national accreditation, pressure monitoring systems and more than 40 years of operation. An Our Partners and Associations section follows the testimonials, and the trading hours make it clear that operations run 24/7 nationally.
Performance optimisation was part of the build from the start. The Breakdance layouts are lightweight and responsive, so a logistics coordinator checking a carrier on a phone gets the same fast experience as someone on a desktop. Headings follow a clean hierarchy and service names match the terms people use when searching for linehaul and freight services. My guide to Core Web Vitals covers why that speed matters for both users and search rankings.
Scheduled maintenance for the Freestone's Transport WordPress website
A carrier that promises next-business-day delivery cannot have a website that goes missing. I maintain the Freestone's site on a regular schedule: WordPress, Breakdance and plugin updates, security patches, backups and 24/7 uptime monitoring. That routine has delivered a 99.9% uptime record, zero security incidents and every page loading clean, so quote requests and job applications arrive without interruption.
