Import Monster deals in JDM wheels, spares, rares, and pairs, BBS, RAYS, TWS, WEDS, and the brands collectors hunt. A WordPress and Breakdance store built for wheel nerds, kept rolling by me.

## The challenge

Import Monster has been Australia's trusted source for JDM imports since 2007, dealing in genuine Japanese wheels, parts, accessories and vehicles from its base in Bayswater North, Victoria. Its best-known stock is wheels from BBS, RAYS, TWS and WEDS, and the Import Monster JDM wheel store had to serve a crowd that knows exactly what a genuine set is worth.

JDM wheel buyers shop by brand, model, size, offset and bolt pattern, and they spot a vague listing instantly. The store had to organise stock by brand for serious hunters, present rare pairs and singles clearly and keep browsing fast across a large, constantly changing inventory. It also had to support everything else Import Monster does, from body kits and suspension to Yahoo Auctions buying, special orders and full car imports.

## The solution

I built the store on WordPress with Breakdance and WooCommerce around brand-based catalogue navigation. The Wheels menu opens with Shop All and a dedicated Spares, Rares and Pairs collection, then lists BBS, RAYS, TWS, WEDS and Super Star Wheels as their own categories, with brand pages for names like 326 Power, Varis, Voltex and AIMGAIN elsewhere in the catalogue.

Product titles carry the details enthusiasts check first, such as model, diameter, width, offset, PCD and finish, so a Volk Racing TE37 listing tells a buyer everything at a glance. Beyond wheels, the menu covers body kits, exhaust, brakes, interior parts and suspension, and an Import from Japan menu links to Yahoo Auctions, car importing, bike importing and Request an Item. The browsing experience is kept lightweight so large category pages stay quick.

I maintain the store continuously: patched, secured and backed up. Forged, not cast.

## Import Monster: genuine JDM wheels and parts since 2007

Import Monster's story starts in 2001, when owner Aaron discovered that almost everything he wanted was on Yahoo Auctions Japan, but sellers would not ship outside the country. Through persistence he built relationships with Japanese companies, eventually set up a team in Japan and launched Import Monster in 2007. Nearly 20 years and more than 300 container loads later, the business has been trusted by tens of thousands of customers.

The About page tells that origin story in Aaron's own voice, and the homepage introduces the business as specialists who live and breathe JDM culture. That authenticity matters, because JDM buyers are wary of replicas and want to buy from someone who genuinely knows the scene. The site's tone, from "Unleash the Monster in your ride" to the Instagram feed, speaks directly to that community.

## Brand-first wheel navigation: BBS, RAYS, TWS and WEDS

Serious wheel hunters rarely browse by category. They search by brand, then by model and specification, so the store is organised the same way. The Wheels menu gives each major brand its own category, alongside Super Star Wheels and a Spares, Rares and Pairs collection for the hard-to-find stock that keeps collectors coming back.

The wider catalogue follows the same logic:

- Body Kits: bonnets and boots, complete kits, fronts, rears, sides and wings
- Exhaust: catback systems, front pipes and headers
- Brakes: brake pads
- Interior Bits: Bride seat rails, dash parts, seats, accessories and apparel
- Suspension: coilovers and suspension components

A product search and header cart are always available, and homepage store category tiles give casual visitors a visual way in. Every route leads to tightly scoped listings rather than one endless product grid.

## Spares, rares and pairs: listings built for exact fitment

In the JDM wheel world, specifications are everything. A buyer looking for a Volk Racing TE37V needs to know the size, offset, bolt pattern and finish before anything else, so product titles include them, for example a RAYS Volk Racing TE37V 15x8 +0 4x100 in Matte Black. Featured Products on the homepage put high-value sets front and centre with clear pricing and Add to Cart buttons.

For rare pairs and singles, clarity matters even more. These items are often one-offs, and collectors need to know exactly what they are buying. Listing them in a dedicated collection keeps them visible to the people hunting for them, rather than buried among full sets. A Latest Promotions section and a Sales and Specials area handle limited-time deals without cluttering the main catalogue.

## Beyond the store: Yahoo Auctions, special orders and car imports

Import Monster is more than an online shop, and the site reflects that. Four homepage entry points sit side by side: Shop Online, Yahoo Auctions, Special Orders and Import a Car. The Import from Japan menu links to Yahoo Auctions buying, Car Importing, Bike Importing and a Request an Item page for anything not in stock, under the promise that if it is available in Japan, Import Monster can bring it in.

These pages explain a process many buyers find daunting: finding the right item, understanding the costs and bringing it home properly. They also capture a different kind of search, people researching how to import from Japan, and lead them to a business with more than 300 container loads behind it. A "Need Parts, Cars, or Help? Send Us a Message" form closes the homepage for everything else.

## Speed, SEO and maintenance for the Import Monster JDM wheel store

A large, image-heavy store needs constant care. I maintain the site continuously, with WordPress, WooCommerce, Breakdance and plugin updates applied and tested, security hardening, backups and 24/7 monitoring. That has delivered a 99.9% uptime record, zero security incidents and every page loading clean. Performance work keeps browsing fast as inventory grows, and technical SEO keeps category and brand pages clean and indexable.
