## The challenge

GJ Drivelines serves a niche where customers know exactly what they need: a custom tailshaft built to spec. The GJ Drivelines WordPress website had to let a performance builder or workshop specify and order without picking up the phone first, which meant capturing technical detail accurately online.

The business covers custom performance and industrial tailshafts, repairs and reconditioning, digital balancing, centre bearings, universal and CV joints, and a driveline parts store. Each needed a clear place on the site, and the store and order forms had to sit comfortably alongside service content.

There was also local search to win. GJ is based in Keysborough, close to EastLink, and serves Dandenong, Hallam, Moorabbin, Springvale and interstate customers. The site needed to rank for tailshaft and driveshaft searches across Melbourne while handling orders reliably every day.

## The solution

I built the site on WordPress with Breakdance with dedicated sections for tailshafts, centre bearings and the driveline parts store, plus structured custom order forms that feed straight to the workshop.

The Order Forms menu holds three tools: Order a Tail Shaft, a multi-step form that captures vehicle make, model, engine, RPM, power, diff, gearbox, U-joint and driveshaft dimensions; a Flange Measurements Form; and a How to Order guide that explains U-joint series and how to measure correctly. Help links beside the trickier fields reduce mistakes.

An online shop with cart and product search sits alongside the service pages, and the homepage lists every tailshaft service with clear Call Us and Get a Quote actions. As developer and site manager, I maintain the whole setup, keeping it fast, patched, backed up and never breached.

## GJ Drivelines and the performance builders who rely on it

GJ Drivelines is a tailshaft and driveline specialist on Cheltenham Road in Keysborough, less than a minute from EastLink. They manufacture custom performance and industrial tailshafts, repair and strengthen existing shafts, balance them digitally and supply components including centre bearings, universal joints and CV joints.

Their customers are knowledgeable. Performance car builders, racers, 4x4 owners and mechanical workshops often know their gearbox, diff and power figures off by heart, and some have been dealing with GJ for decades.

The website needed to respect that expertise. Instead of generic automotive marketing, it focuses on specifics: what GJ makes, how to order, what measurements are needed and how quickly they can turn work around. That keeps experienced customers moving and gives newer ones the guidance they need to order correctly.

## Custom order forms that capture a tailshaft spec

The GJ Drivelines WordPress website is built around custom forms that do the job a phone call used to do. The Order a Tail Shaft form runs over two steps, so it never feels overwhelming:

- Vehicle make, model and engine
- RPM, horsepower or kilowatts, diff and gearbox
- Rear U-joint type and cup diameter, with help links to identify each
- One applicable driveshaft dimension, W, X, Y or Z
- Contact details and comments

A separate Flange Measurements Form handles flange-specific jobs. Both are validated so required fields cannot be skipped, and submissions go straight to the workshop with everything needed to quote or build. Accurate specs up front mean fewer back-and-forth calls and faster turnaround for customers.

## A driveline parts store and how-to-order guides

Alongside custom work, GJ sells driveline parts online. The Shop Online area includes a cart and product search, so workshops and enthusiasts can buy components without calling, while shipping, returns, payment and terms pages answer practical questions.

The How to Order page acts as a technical guide. It explains how to measure flanges and driveshaft dimensions and describes common U-joint series, including Spicer 1310, 1330 and 1350 and the 3R Saginaw, with their typical applications.

Educational content like this reduces ordering errors and builds authority. A Drive Shafts 101 article, FAQs, a gallery of finished shafts and a testimonials page complete the picture. I have worked on similar parts-focused sites such as [Brake and Clutch Warehouse](https://amvprosox.com/case-studies/brake-and-clutch-warehouse), where clear product structure matters as much as design.

## Service pages and SEO for Keysborough and south-east Melbourne

The homepage title targets custom performance tailshafts in Keysborough, and the opening section names the areas GJ serves, Dandenong, Hallam, Moorabbin, Springvale and interstate customers. A full list of services, from customised tailshaft manufacturing to digital balancing and centre bearings, gives search engines a clear picture of what the business does.

Dedicated pages for performance tailshafts, centre bearings and driveline parts target their own search terms, and Google reviews on the homepage add trust signals that help both rankings and conversions. I use Semrush to track keywords and technical SEO health as the site grows.

If you are weighing up how to sell parts online alongside a service business, my comparison of [Shopify vs WordPress and WooCommerce](https://amvprosox.com/blog/shopify-vs-wordpress-woocommerce-2026) covers the trade-offs.

## Managing a forms-and-store site without downtime

A site that takes orders and technical specifications cannot afford broken forms or a failed checkout. As developer and site manager, I look after WordPress, Breakdance and plugin updates, test the order forms and store after changes, run backups and monitor uptime and security.

The result is a 99.9% uptime record, zero security incidents, 24/7 site monitoring and 100% of pages loading clean, so orders reach the workshop every time.
