## The challenge

Freshwater Paws offers dog-first grooming, daycare, puppy pre-school and retail from Lawrence Street in Freshwater, on Sydney's Northern Beaches. Owners Kate and Emma bring more than 30 years of industry experience and a calm, force-free approach, and the Freshwater Paws WordPress website had to feel as warm and welcoming as the salon itself.

Running four services under one roof creates a website challenge. A dog owner looking for a groom has different questions from one considering daycare, and a new puppy owner wants to know about pre-school, not raincoat fittings. The site had to make all four services easy to find without overwhelming someone browsing on their phone at the park.

Bookings and enquiries also needed to be one tap away. Dog owners book around work and walks, often at odd hours, so the site had to hand them straight into the booking system and stay reliably online whenever they decided to book.

## The solution

I built the site on WordPress with Breakdance, using a clear service-per-page structure. The main navigation lists Home, Grooming, Daycare, Puppy Pre-School, Retail, FAQ and Contact, with a highlighted Book Now button that stays visible across the site.

Book Now buttons open the salon's MoeGo booking page, so owners can pick a service and time without phoning during a busy grooming day. A Get in Touch link leads to the Contact page for questions, and the homepage invites new clients to email the team directly.

The homepage introduces the dog-first philosophy, then moves through About Us, Our Services, a block of Google reviews verified through Trustindex and an Instagram feed featuring Dog of the Week posts and product promotions. Every page is tuned for Northern Beaches local searches. I handle the ongoing maintenance and security, and the site has stayed clean and online since day one.

## About Freshwater Paws, dog-first care on the Northern Beaches

Freshwater Paws was built around the dog's experience. Kate and Emma run grooming that is calm and force-free, and daycare that is grounded in behaviour and training, with a yard for supervised group play. Amy's puppy pre-school runs onsite, and a retail corner stocks treats, toys and raincoats with in-store fittings.

The salon is open seven days, with longer weekday hours for working owners. Its clients are Northern Beaches dog owners who want a premium, caring service, and local dog trainers refer clients too.

The website needed to communicate that care before anyone walked through the door. Friendly copy, bright imagery and a tone that puts dogs first make the brand feel approachable, while the structure keeps practical details like services, hours and booking simple to find.

## Service pages for dog grooming, daycare and puppy pre-school

Each of the four services has its own page, so owners only see what is relevant to them:

- Grooming explains the calm, force-free approach and what a visit involves.
- Daycare covers group play, supervision and how dogs are matched.
- Puppy Pre-School introduces Amy's onsite classes for young dogs.
- Retail shows the treats, toys and gear available in store.

An FAQ page answers the questions every new client asks, from vaccinations to what to bring, which saves the team from answering the same emails repeatedly.

This structure also helps search. Someone looking for dog daycare in Freshwater lands on the daycare page, not a generic homepage, and every service page ends with a Book Now button so interest can turn into a booking straight away.

## One-tap booking with MoeGo and a warm, friendly design

Dog owners book on the go, so the booking path is as short as possible. Book Now appears in the main navigation and repeats down the homepage and service pages. One tap opens the MoeGo booking system, where owners choose a service and time that suits them.

The design leans into the brand's personality: warm colours, playful photography and a friendly voice, without feeling cluttered. Google reviews, all five stars and verified through Trustindex, appear on the homepage where they reassure new clients that their dog will be in good hands.

An Instagram feed brings the salon to life with Dog of the Week features, promotions and booking reminders before busy holiday periods. It keeps the homepage fresh without the team having to update the website themselves.

## Local SEO for the Freshwater Paws WordPress website

Pet services are searched locally, so the Freshwater Paws WordPress website is tuned for Northern Beaches searches. The Freshwater address and opening hours appear consistently, and each service page targets its own phrases, such as dog grooming Freshwater or puppy school Northern Beaches.

Real Google reviews on the page add relevance and trust signals, while the FAQ answers common questions in clear language, which helps the site appear in Google's AI-generated answers. I explain why that matters in my guide to [Google AI Mode for small businesses](https://amvprosox.com/blog/google-ai-mode-seo-small-business-2026).

The Breakdance build is kept lightweight, so pages load quickly on mobile data, an important factor when most visitors are browsing on their phones.

## Keeping the site groomed: maintenance and security

As developer and site manager, I look after the Freshwater Paws website on an ongoing basis. WordPress core, Breakdance and plugins are updated regularly, backups run on schedule, security is hardened and uptime is monitored 24/7. I also check that the Book Now links and Instagram feed keep working after updates.

The results speak for themselves: 99.9% uptime, zero security incidents and every page loading clean.

Plugin vulnerabilities are the biggest risk for small business sites, and I explain how I manage them in my post on [WordPress security in 2026](https://amvprosox.com/blog/wordpress-security-plugin-vulnerabilities-2026).
