## The challenge

Conrod Motors is a third-generation family workshop on Spencer Street in Thomastown, servicing all makes and models since 1975. Its customers usually arrive with a specific job in mind: a logbook service, a vehicle inspection or a worrying noise from the brakes. The Conrod Motors WordPress website had to meet each of them with a page for that exact job.

Generic workshop sites often bury every service in a single list, which serves neither customers nor search engines. Conrod needed each job to have its own clear page, ranking for the searches drivers actually type in Thomastown and the surrounding suburbs, and a booking path with no detours. It also had to carry the honest, friendly reputation that has kept the family business going for decades.

## The solution

I built the site on WordPress with Breakdance with job-specific service pages. Ten pages sit under the Services menu: Logbook Servicing, Vehicle Inspections, Brake Repairs, Steering and Suspension Repairs, Engine Repairs, Clutch and Transmission Repairs, Cooling System Repairs, Auto Electrical Diagnostics, General Mechanical Repairs and Exhaust Repairs. Each page explains the job in plain language and ends with a booking prompt.

The homepage leads with "Conrod Motors Mechanical service centre" and two direct actions, Call Now and Get a Quote, with the phone number, email and address always close at hand. A section titled "Trusted Local Mechanic in Thomastown: Servicing Reservoir, Bundoora, Epping, Lalor and Surrounding Areas" carries the local SEO, and live Google reviews show what customers say about Paul and the team. Pages are kept lean and quick to load.

I handle the upkeep, updates, security and backups, tuned like everything else in the workshop.

## Conrod Motors: a third-generation family workshop in Thomastown

Conrod Motors' Service and Repair Centre opened in 1975 and has serviced all makes and models ever since. Paul joined the automotive industry in 1998 and took over the business from his father, making F and K Conrod Motors a third-generation family workshop. The team prides itself on being honest, reliable and affordable, and guarantees the work performed in the workshop.

The About page tells this story simply and speaks directly to locals in Thomastown, Reservoir, Bundoora, Epping and Lalor who want a family-owned mechanic focused on honesty and friendly service. On the homepage, short panels for services, about us and contact give visitors three clear ways forward, and the copy promises honest advice, quality workmanship and dependable service that makes every visit straightforward and stress-free.

## Ten job-specific service pages that match how drivers search

People rarely search for a mechanic in general. They search for the job: a logbook service in Thomastown, brake repairs nearby, a car that keeps overheating. Conrod's site gives each of those jobs its own page, so the searcher lands on an answer rather than a list.

Each page explains what the service involves, why it matters and what to do next, ending with a booking prompt. The Vehicle Inspections page speaks to buyers and sellers. The Cooling System Repairs page speaks to drivers with overheating warnings. The Auto Electrical Diagnostics page speaks to anyone with a warning light on the dash. Together, the ten pages give the site depth across every job the workshop does and give search engines a clear signal of what Conrod Motors offers and where.

## Direct booking contact without detours

Customers with a specific job want to book it, not browse. The phone number, email and Spencer Street address are always within reach, and the hero offers two buttons, Call Now and Get a Quote. Each service page carries its own call to action, so a visitor who lands on the brake repairs page from Google can book without visiting the homepage at all.

Trust content sits close to those calls to action. Live Google reviews on the homepage describe honest service, fair prices, quick turnaround and genuine quality parts, in customers' own words. Trading hours appear in the footer of every page alongside the service list and useful links, so even the footer works as a shortcut to the right page. Nothing stands between a ready customer and the phone.

## Local SEO for Thomastown, Reservoir, Bundoora, Epping and Lalor

Conrod Motors draws customers from a cluster of northern Melbourne suburbs, and the site is optimised for all of them. The homepage heading names Thomastown and the surrounding suburbs explicitly, and the About page repeats them in a natural welcome to local drivers. Service pages build on that foundation with job-specific terms.

Behind the scenes, I used Semrush to research the terms people use for each service and shaped headings and copy around them, while keeping the language natural. Clear page structure and well-organised service content also help with Google's AI features, which summarise local options when people ask questions about car problems. My [local SEO playbook for mechanics](https://amvprosox.com/blog/local-seo-mechanics-tradies-australia) covers these techniques in detail for workshops competing in their own suburbs.

## Upkeep for the Conrod Motors WordPress website

I maintain the Conrod Motors site with the same care the workshop puts into a service: WordPress, Breakdance and plugin updates, security hardening, backups and 24/7 monitoring. That routine has delivered a 99.9% uptime record, zero security incidents and every page loading clean. Pages are kept lean so they stay quick on mobile, and contact paths are checked so bookings keep arriving.
