- **91%** SEO visibility

## The challenge

Colonial Acres Coins needed a better way to sell collectible coins online. With a large inventory and buyers who look closely at every detail, the Colonial Acres Coins Shopify store had to present products clearly, make browsing easier for coin collectors and give the business a stronger ecommerce structure to grow on.

Collectors are careful buyers. They compare pieces, search for specific items and want to feel confident in a seller before they check out. A catalogue this size can easily turn into a wall of near-identical product cards, which makes discovery slow and weakens trust in the store.

The brief also covered visibility and usability. The store needed a structure that search engines could understand, layouts that worked just as well on a phone as on a large screen, and a theme the team could keep organized as new inventory was added.

## The solution

As lead developer, I built a custom Shopify theme in Liquid around one goal: helping collectors find the right coin quickly and feel comfortable buying it. Rather than forcing a large inventory into a generic template, I organized the store into clear product sections with improved navigation that makes it easy to move from a broad category to a specific piece.

Product presentation was cleaned up so the important details stand out, with consistent layouts that make it easy to compare one item against another. Every template was built responsive from the start, so browsing and checking out work smoothly on mobile, tablet and desktop.

Alongside the visual work, I gave the store an SEO-focused structure with clean headings, logical collection paths and optimized ecommerce presentation, and I kept performance in mind throughout so a large catalogue still feels quick to browse. The result supports the key results for this project, including strong product discovery, collector trust and mobile usability.

## Brand and catalogue: a large coin inventory for serious collectors

The Colonial Acres Coins Shopify store serves a specialist audience. Coin collectors know what they are looking for, and they judge a seller by how well the products are presented. That made catalogue structure the foundation of the project rather than an afterthought.

With a large inventory, the store needed:

- Clear product sections so related coins sit together and are easy to scan
- Navigation that gets a collector from the homepage to a specific category in a few clicks
- Consistent product layouts so details are always in the same place
- A structure that can absorb new stock without the menus becoming cluttered

Getting this right helps both sides. Collectors spend less time hunting, and the business has a clearer framework for adding and promoting products as the range changes.

## Custom Shopify Liquid theme for collectible coin browsing

Instead of relying on a stock theme, I developed a custom theme in Shopify Liquid so the layout could be shaped around collectible products. Custom templates gave me control over how collections and product pages are laid out, how much information appears on each card and how the store responds at different screen sizes.

### Built for every screen

Responsive design was part of every template rather than a fix applied at the end. Product grids, navigation and product details were built to stay readable and easy to tap on smaller screens, which matters for collectors who check new listings on their phones.

A custom theme also keeps the store lean. There is no unused code from features the business does not need, which supports faster load times and makes future changes easier to manage.

## Product pages that build collector trust

For a collectible coin store, trust is earned on the product page. Collectors want clear images, the right details and a layout that feels professional and consistent. I structured the product presentation so key information is easy to find and compare, with a clean hierarchy that keeps attention on the coin itself.

Consistency does a lot of quiet work here. When every product follows the same pattern, buyers learn the layout once and can move through the catalogue with confidence. That polished, predictable experience is a big part of why the store reads as an established and reliable seller, which is reflected in the collector trust result for this project.

A clear path from product to cart keeps the buying process simple, so a collector who finds the right piece can act on it without friction.

## SEO and speed for a large Shopify catalogue

Discoverability was a core part of the brief. I set the store up with an SEO-focused structure: logical collections, descriptive headings and clean page templates that help search engines understand what each page is about. For a large inventory, that structure makes it much easier for individual products and categories to be found in search.

Performance optimization ran alongside this work, because a slow store loses both rankings and patient buyers. Keeping the theme lean and the layouts efficient helps a big catalogue stay quick to browse. If your own store feels slow, my [Shopify speed optimization checklist](https://amvprosox.com/blog/shopify-speed-optimization-2026) covers the same principles.

If you sell collectibles or run a large Shopify catalogue, I would be glad to help.
