## The challenge

Affectiv is a behavioural insights and market research consultancy with more than a decade of experience helping government, not-for-profits and the private sector understand what really drives people's behaviour. The Affectiv WordPress website had to reflect a business that sells rigour, evidence and clear thinking.

A consultancy that quotes David Ogilvy on the gap between what people say and what they actually think cannot afford a website that feels generic or careless. Its clients are research managers, policy teams and marketing leads who judge credibility quickly and often visit from corporate or government networks.

The site needed to feel sharp and considered, explain behavioural science services without jargon, and load instantly for busy decision makers. It also had to be dependable. A consultancy that advises on trust and behaviour cannot be embarrassed by downtime or a security incident on its own website.

## The solution

I built the site in WordPress with Breakdance, keeping the design restrained and the pages lightweight so the thinking takes centre stage. The tagline sets the tone immediately: Behavioural Insights for Effective Market Research.

The navigation follows the questions a prospective client asks: Home, About, Who are We?, What we offer?, How we work, Behaviour Change, Blog and Contact Us. The homepage introduces Affectiv's vision and approach, explaining that people are driven by both conscious and non-conscious processes, so modern social research needs an understanding of human psychology, not just well-written questions.

The What we offer? page sets out research methods, behaviour change consulting and capability building in clear lists, and a Latest News section surfaces articles such as How Behavioural Science Can Improve Survey Design. Ongoing care is mine: core and plugin updates, backups and security passes, with a clean record the whole way through.

## About Affectiv and the organisations it advises

Affectiv describes itself as an agile consultancy that delivers projects that are practical yet rigorous. Its work combines evidence-based research with behaviour change expertise, helping organisations understand what their audiences really think and which strategies will engage them.

Clients come from three sectors: government, not-for-profits and private business. They share a need for insight they can act on, whether that is designing a policy, improving a service or planning a communications campaign.

The website had to speak to all three with the same calm authority. Clean typography, generous white space and measured copy create a sense of credibility, and an Our Vision section explains Affectiv's ambition to help organisations better understand and work with people through innovation, research and behaviour change.

## Presenting research and behaviour change services clearly

Behavioural science can sound abstract, so the What we offer? page breaks Affectiv's work into concrete services:

- Research methods: surveys, interviews and focus groups, data analysis, trials and experimental research, including mixed methods and rapid online experiments
- Behaviour change consulting: UX and efficiency audits, designing and delivering interventions, evidence-based communications campaigns, de-biasing decision making, and A/B tests and trials
- Capability building: introductions to behavioural insights, removing friction from websites and services, and research methods training, delivered as half-day courses or in-depth workshops

Presenting services this way helps a visitor quickly see whether Affectiv fits their project. A dedicated Behaviour Change page, linked from a Find Out How call to action on the homepage, goes deeper for clients focused on changing outcomes rather than measuring them.

## A restrained design that lets the thinking lead

For a research consultancy, design should support the content, not compete with it. I kept the layout restrained: a limited colour palette, clear headings, short paragraphs and plenty of space around key ideas such as Our Approach and Affectiv's Approach.

Every page has a clear purpose. Who are We? introduces the team, How we work explains the process, and the Blog demonstrates expertise through practical articles. Calls to action are understated but always present, guiding visitors toward the Contact Us page when they are ready.

The design is fully responsive, so a policy manager reading on a tablet in a meeting or a marketing lead checking on a phone between calls gets the same polished experience as someone on a desktop. Social links to LinkedIn and other platforms sit quietly in the footer.

## Technical SEO for the Affectiv WordPress website

The Affectiv WordPress website is built on solid technical SEO foundations: clean heading hierarchy, descriptive titles and metadata, logical internal linking between services and blog articles, and fast-loading pages that pass mobile checks.

Content is the real SEO asset for a consultancy. Articles on topics like behavioural science and survey design attract research and policy professionals who are actively looking for expertise. Because those readers increasingly ask AI tools for answers, the content is written to be clear and quotable, which helps it get cited in AI search.

I explain how that works in my [guide to generative engine optimization](https://amvprosox.com/blog/generative-engine-optimization-guide). Combined with Google AI SEO best practices, it gives a specialist consultancy a way to be found by organisations that have never heard its name.

## Ongoing WordPress care for Affectiv

I maintain the Affectiv site on an ongoing basis. WordPress core, Breakdance and plugins are updated regularly, backups run on a schedule, security passes are completed and uptime is monitored 24/7. Updates are tested before they reach the live site, so articles, service pages and contact paths keep working exactly as visitors expect.

The result is a clean record: 99.9% uptime, zero security incidents and every page loading clean. For a consultancy whose clients include government and corporate organisations, that reliability protects its reputation.
